Federal Tax Guidelines
Federal law permits Goodwill donors to claim tax deductions for many financial contributions and for donated clothing and household items in good, used condition or better. If you itemize deductions on your federal tax return, you may be entitled to claim a charitable deduction for your donation to Goodwill.
The U.S. Internal Revenue (IRS) requires donors to value their donated items. To help guide you, Goodwill Industries of South Central California has created a simple, three-step process that will provide you with a printable donation receipt for your records during tax season. Please remember to only estimate the values of donated items that were in good condition.
